Once, twice, three times a lady
04.27.04 (10:02 pm)   [edit]
My sister is my best friend and she is very sick. She has been diagnosed with TTP, a rare life threatening blood disease that only affects one in a million people per year. It has a 20% mortality rate. She is in the hospital for at least 2 weeks and maybe more. She gets 15 units of plasma a day in a procedure that lasts three hours. She gets very sick during the procedure because of a drop in calcium that is caused by the added anticoagulants in the plasma. During the procedure she is constantly eating Tums and drinking milk. The big thing is that she is 6 weeks pregnant and she is scared that she will lose the baby because of all she is going through.
They did an ultrasound of the baby today and everything looks good so far, for a six week old pregnancy. No heart beat yet, but that might not be for another week or two.
I am very worried about her. But I am staying strong because she needs positive energy. I was with her yesterday and I will be there tomorrow. Since she has a VCR in her room we are having movie night tomorrow night. I will bring some popcorn and we can veg-out in her room. We are going to watch "Big Fish" - I believe it came out today.

As far as my weight loss surgery. I have a consultation on May 13th. I have studied the surgery for years, but wasn't always interested in it. There are positive things and negative things about the surgery. I just want to know more about it from a doctors point of view. Who knows?

I just want to focus on my sister for now.

Throughout the years I have seriously thought about weight loss surgery. I didn't want to do anything about it because I thought that I might want to have more kids. Arcade and I haven't actually said absolutely no to more kids, but we are leaning more towards no.

The past few days I have thought more seriously about weight loss surgery. I really want to be thin and I have struggled with weight since puberty. My whole family is heavy and I know I am genetically built to be a bigger than the average bear. I don't want to be Britney Spears thin, but I would like to drop a good 100 pounds or so. Most people don't believe that I have 100 pounds to lose, but I probably have 120 or more to lose. I want to be able to go to the juniors rack in my local clothing store and pick out a size 10 or 12.

Tomorrow I am going to start researching weight loss surgery more. I know my insurance would cover it. I just have to find the right hospital and the right doctor. Of course, I want to discuss it with Arcade some more. I would need to take a few weeks off work and such, but all that stuff is minor details.

I think that warmer weather does this to everybody. I want to look nice in shorts. I want to look decent in a swimsuit. I hate being fat. :(

or something like that. What I am trying to say is there is going to be a new addition to my family!!!!! My sister, who has been trying to get pregnant for two years, is finally with child!!! Yay! I am going to be an aunt for the sixth time!! :D

I am so excited!!! I can hardly stand it. I hope all goes well with her.

I met my old friend, Scott today for lunch. I had a nice time as we reminisced about old times for almost two hours. I hope to see him again sometime...next time it is my turn to buy lunch.

In the ER tonight there is an abundance of overdoses and psycho people being seen. The best story tonight is the woman who brought her 3 year old child in because he wouldn't stand or walk. She thought that he had hurt his foot or leg. Turns out the kid had been walking with sand in his shoes all day and he didn't have any socks on. Ouch. People are so dumb......
I just registered a patient who requested some water. Meanwhile his wife was taking out his dreads with a comb, picking through his hair. Yuck!!!!!! I swear people use the ER to sit back, relax and get waited on.

Peace.

Happy Anniversary!!

Today is my 4th wedding anniversary. It has been a tough year, but I think we are on the right track. Ten years ago, I would have never guessed that I would be married with a cute little girl. Dreams do come true!!

At work the only good story is the man who came in with an overdose of rubbing alcohol and baby oil. He is in ICU still, and I doubt he will ever be normal again. Wierd.

I have been working with this girl for a few months now and we have talked occasionally, she is a unit secretary and I am in registration. Come to find out...after a little bit of conversation she is from my hometown!!! We had a crush on the same guy at around the same time. Obviously he ignored us both and decided to get married to someone else. Oh well.....the story continues with me knowing her aunt and uncle very well, too! I love it. Next time we work we are both bringing in pictures and yearbooks to reminisce about times gone by. We both went to different high schools, but ended up knowing alot of the same people. :)

I rearranged my daughters room last weekend and tonight I decided to rearrange the furniture in my bedroom. It is a welcome change.

Happy tax day tomorrow! :?

That is my porn name......my first pets name and then the street I grew up on. What is yours? The best ones I heard around work tonight were Roxanne Rodgers and Izzy Underwood.

Tonight has been very busy tonight in the ER. It is a full moon and there have been some crazy people in to see doctors. I think the one that is most memorable is the woman who is on her 7th pregnancy and is 21 years old. She has three living children and then she has had two miscarriages and two abortions. Ummmm, can anyone say "birth control"? She is in for treatment of her gonorrhea. What is wrong with these people?

All I can say about the rest of them is that they are incompetant as can be and I wish I had a shot gun at my desk most of the time.
