| Work, work, work! |

I am on a four day stretch of work this weekend. It always seems like I work every holiday, too! I am on a rotating holiday schedule for the more "important" holidays, but I always get stuck working the piss ant holidays like Easter and Mother's Day.
My sister is slowly getting better. Her platelet count is up and she is feeling better. She will be going to plasmaphoresis every other day instead of every day now.
I was talking to a few people over chat last night through my favorite website, ex-pentecostals.org I am still trying to figure out what the whole conversation was about. It was mostly me trying to back my agnosticism. One of the people told me to read the beattitudes from the Sermon on the Mount and it would change my life. :roll: Whatever. I think I have read that a few times in my religious life and I never felt moved by that passage of Scripture. I just ignored it for the most part. Religion.....yuck. :twisted:

For some reason people treat the ER like a cafeteria or lunchroom. I was asked by a woman who was visiting a patient for some water and when I went in the room to give her the cup of water, she had a whole spread of food and was digging her big ol' arm in a super size bag of Cheetos. The patient was sitting on the exam table licking her fingers. She was so large whe looked like a beached whale. They both asked me for some napkins then. I just pointed to the paper towel container on the wall and walked out.
We had one patient in tonight who obviously had a altered mental status. All he kept saying is "Alabama". The doctors and nurses couldn't get anything out of him, except for the fact that he was from Alabama! Crazy.
Changing the subject....my sister seems to be doing better. She is still in the hospital but should be out in the next few days. She will still be going back every day for her plasmaphoresis, but at least she will be able to go home and see her cats, Sunny and Murray. Today an ultrasound was done of the baby and they found a heartbeat. Now that the baby has survived this far they will be doing ultrasounds every few weeks to see if there are any developmental problems. I hope she and the baby will be fine.
